• [1Yoh 5:20] We All Believe In One True God

  We all believe in one true God, Who created earth and Heaven, The Father, who to us in love Hath the right of children given. He both soul and body feedeth, All we need He doth provide us; He thro’ snares and perils leadeth, Watching that no harm betide us. He careth for us day and night, All things are governed by His might. We all believe in Jesus Christ, His own Son, our Lord, possessing An equal Godhead, throne, and might, Source of every grace and blessing. Born of Mary, virgin mother, By the power of the Spirit, Made true man, our elder Brother, That the lost might life inherit. Was crucified for sinful men And raised by God to life again. We all confess the Holy Ghost, Who sweet grace and comfort giveth And with the Father and the Son In eternal glory liveth; Who the Church, His own creation, Keeps in unity of Spirit. Here forgiveness and salvation Daily come thro’ Jesus’ merit. All flesh shall rise, and we shall be In bliss with God eternally.

• [1Yoh 3:24] Abide In Me, O Lord

  Abide in me, O Lord, and I in Thee, From this good hour, oh, leave me nevermore; Then shall the discord cease, the wound be healed, The lifelong bleeding of the soul be o’er. Abide in me; o’ershadow by Thy love Each half formed purpose and dark thought of sin; Quench ere it rise each selfish, low desire, And keep my soul as Thine, calm and divine. As some rare perfume in a vase of clay, Pervades it with a fragrance not its own, So, when Thou dwellest in a mortal soul, All Heaven’s own sweetness seems around it thrown. Abide in me; there have been moments blest When I have heard Thy voice and felt Thy power; Then evil lost its grasp; and passion, hushed, Owned the divine enchantment of the hour. These were but seasons beautiful and rare; Abide in me, and they shall ever be; Fulfill at once Thy precept and my prayer, Come, and abide in me, and I in Thee.

  Live out Thy life within me, O Jesus, King of kings! Be Thou Thyself the answer to all my questionings; Live out Thy life within me, in all things have Thy way! I, the transparent medium, Thy glory to display. The temple has been yielded, and purified of sin, Let Thy Shekinah glory now shine forth from within, And all the earth keep silence, the body henceforth be Thy silent, gentle servant, moved only as by Thee. Its members every moment held subject to Thy call, Ready to have Thee use them, or not be used at all, Held without restless longing, or strain, or stress, or fret, Or chafings at Thy dealings, or thoughts of vain regret.
